A renovated karst homestead, where everything is as it once was, yet offers modern accommodation and living.
We offer 35 beds in six rooms of different sizes located in a karst house and a barn, a shared bathroom and dining room and the possibility of using the kitchen.
A very helpful host. All crockery and utensils are available in the shared kitchen. Even coffee, salt, sugar and spices. And a refrigerator. And a water heater. And towels, although they are not listed in the offer.
ApolonijaFully equipped large kitchen with coffee machines. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. The staff was very helpful. Everything was fine.
RotterClean, quiet location with a beautiful garden. My daughter loved the swing!
KarenVery friendly and well organized, with great cleanliness and comfortable beds. The peace is absolute, and the place is familiar.
Giuseppe_cThis is a delightful hostel and a real gem for anyone who passes through. The staff are really friendly and accommodating, but the hostel itself is stunning; a 400 year old farm house converted into a place for travellers, couples, cyclists and families to pass through and explore the area. I've been able to really relax here, just don't get me started on the wine!
Simon JacksonExploring the hidden corners of Pliskovica, walking or cycling to nearby Komen, Dutovlje, Štanjel ... and many natural attractions.
Outdoor kitchen, stone tables, plenty of space for gathering on an authentic karst yard "Borjač"... all this for your parties, weddings, anniversaries, and other important moments in your life.
There are two pearls of the Karst nearby, Lipica, where you can walk between the Lipizzaners, and Štanjel, a beautiful medieval village with a castle and Fabiani's Garden. In Dutovlje, you can visit Pepa's Karst Garden and Boris Pahor Memorial Room. In Tomaj, you can see the Kosovel Homestead. In Sežana, you can walk through the Botanical Park or stop in the Kosovel Memorial Room, and for the more active, there is the Living Museum of the Karst. However, you shall visit the Škocjan Caves Park and the Park of Military History in Pivka. In Lokev, you can see a rich collection of items from the war period.
It takes only a twenty-minute drive to reach Trieste. If you wish, you can jump into the sea in Sistiana. There is also the Napoleonic Way, which offers a beautiful view of Trieste, and the Rilke Trail, which leads over Sistiana Bay to Devin Castle.
You can discover a picturesque karst village or take a 6 km walk along the marked Pliska Trail. While walking, you can learn a lot about the Karst and the life of the Karst locals, and you can enrich your walk by playing shepherd games. You can visit a stonecutter or a beekeeper or try local premium wines and other delicacies. Pliskovica is also the starting point for a hike to Volnik hill, from which the view stretches from the Adriatic Sea to the Julian Alps. A stone carving workshop or one of the other workshops in our offer is possible by prior agreement. You can also organize a picnic in the garden with your company, as there is a seasonal kitchen with a barbecue. In any case, you shall attend some of our traditional events.
Weddings are possible in the Youth Hotel Pliskovica. For this purpose, we rent out the entire homestead, which means that the rooms are also included, and the wedding guests can spend the night with us. In such a case, we rent 15 beds (preparations) from Friday to Saturday and all 35 beds from Saturday to Sunday. By renting, we provide you only with the place, and you shall take care of all further organization and the course of the event (arrangement, catering, possible additional inventory, etc.). At this point, it is necessary to point out that our hostel is in the centre of the village, so we must consider the public order and peace, which means that after 10 pm, the loudness of the music should not disturb the neighbours. Our garden can accommodate 100 (or more) people. In bad weather, a problem can arise with many wedding guests, as we only have a small hall (maximum 35 people). In such a case, a tent with a floor is required, which is not included in the rental price. It is necessary to organize the installation through external contractors.
Since it is a more than 400-year-old homestead protected as a cultural monument, the rooms are arranged as they were 400 years ago. As a result, the bedrooms are larger, and the shared bathrooms are in the hallway. The smallest sleeping unit with five beds (2 + 3 beds) can also be rented only for 2, 3 or 4 people, but in this case, the price is slightly higher, and in this case, you have one bathroom only for you.
Each bed is equipped with its own pillow and blanket. Guests can bring their own sheets (mattress sheets, quilt covers and pillowcases) or rent them from us for a small additional fee. Sleeping bags are not allowed.
A very narrow path leads to the hostel's entrance and is only suitable for passenger cars. You can drive up to the entrance just to unload your luggage. Then you shall move your car approx. 200 m away, where there is an arranged parking.
